Manatawny Still Works Announces Focus on Philadelphia with New Hire and Tasting Room

Foobooz founder Arthur Etchells comes aboard as Philadelphia Region Manager.

Pottstown, PA -- Manatawny Still Works (manatawnystillworks.com) announced today that Arthur Etchells joined the company to grow the distillery’s market share in Philadelphia. Etchells comes to Manatawny Still Works from Philadelphia magazine where he was a senior editor and ran the day-to-day operations of Foobooz – the magazine’s online food and drink vertical. 10 years ago, Etchells began Foobooz on his own and grew the brand into Philadelphia’s destination for restaurant, bar, food and drink news. Etchells joins Manatawny Still Works in advance of the opening of the Manatawny Still Works Tasting Room and Bottle Shop on Passyunk Avenue (1603 East Passyunk Avenue).

Etchells says, “I’m excited to start with Manatawny at a time when craft spirits are really taking off. Much like the restaurant scene ten years ago, local distilleries are doing great things and need someone like me to be talking about them. I look forward to introducing Manatawny’s whole line of spirits to Philadelphia.”

Craft distilling is booming in Pennsylvania. Since changes in the state law in 2012, almost 60 distilleries have started producing spirits or are in the planning stages. According to analysts, craft distilling could hit the same market penetration as craft beer by 2020.

Manatawny Still Works Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Randy McKinley, is looking for the tasting room to recreate the distillery’s success in Pottstown. “Over the course of the past two years, we’ve seen tremendous success in our tasting room in Pottstown. It’s a great marketing vehicle and gives us the ability to offer tours of our distillery and educate consumers about the craft spirits movement that’s sweeping through Pennsylvania. We’re really excited for 2017 and adding Arthur to the team. It’s perfect timing with our opening on Passyunk Avenue.”

Etchells will launch Manatawny’s Philadelphia-based operations at the new tasting room with events on Passyunk Avenue and around the city.

The tasting room, which is steps from the “singing fountain,” will serve as Manatawny’s headquarters in Philadelphia. Visitors are welcome to stop in for a tasting of Manatawny’s line of whiskeys, gins, rums and vodka. The tasting room will be serving their signature cocktails, in addition to selling their award winning craft spirits by the bottle. Manatawny and Etchells are excited to become part of the thriving Passyunk Avenue scene. The neighborhood was highlighted as a big reason why Philadelphia made Travel + Leisure’s Top 50 Best Places to Travel in 2017.

The tasting room is projected to open in early 2017.
